DIY Chalk Paint!

Don't buy the pricy chalk paint because you can make it FOR CHEAP!

Picture

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
-Plaster of Paris
-Water
-1/3 cup and 1 cup measuring cups
-pint of FLAT latex paint (I bought a Cream color and dark gray. Then mixed the colors for a lighter gray.)
-(extra) I used gold craft paint for the gold trim above
-Chipboard brush
-Paint stirrer
-Old container

STEP ONE:
Into container, Pour 1/3 cup of plaster and 1/3 cup water. MIX WELL

STEP TWO:
Pour 1 cup of paint into mixture and mix until paint feels thicker. Make sure there are no clumps of plaster.

STEP THREE:
Start painting your master piece and continue to stir paint so it does not harden.

If you still have leftover chalk paint when finished, keep the paint in a sealed container. Mine last after a few uses and for months.

TOP COAT:
You can use basic wax like most chalk painters but I find that matte Polyurethane Spray Paint works the best. I find mine at my local hardware store. I sometimes even antique my furniture with wax, sand in a few spots, and then I cover it with the Poly Spray Paint for extra protection.

HAVE FUN!!
XOXO,
Taylor Anne

Hi, Taylor Anne here! Oh, and that stud in the picture is my hubby, Tim (AKA my parter in crime). I guess you could call me a DIY specialists and style addict. I have a Bachelors degree in Fine Art and Art Education, taught public school art for several years.....and then decided to chase a dream. Whats the dream? Well, to prove that artist don't have to starve to make a living. HA! While chasing my dream, I've managed to teach myself a LOT! From being a semi-carpenter, seamstress, business owner, house-flipper, teacher, mentor, artist, and a million other titles.. I've acquired a lot of knowledge and I'm here to share it! Enjoy!
    XOXO,
    Taylor Anne
